Rio buyers may want to opt for the optional antilock brake package, that adds not only ABS but also 262-mm solid rear disc brakes and electronic brake force distribution. Unlike the previous four-door Rio and Cinco wagon, the redesigned sedan and five-door Rio5 add a bit of styling flair to the compact car segment. The front end features a black mesh grille, black air dam insert, and more pronounced hood lines. The side flanks add sporty wheel flares, and the rear end has been reshaped for a cleaner appearance.

The Kia Rio5 is based off the Rio sedan, but is offered in hatchback form. The Rio5 seats 5 passengers and is powered by a 110-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that is controlled by either a standard five-speed manual transmission, or a four-speed automatic. Standard features include independent front suspension, semi-independent rear suspension, air conditioning and power steering. The SX trim is equipped with fog lamps, a rear spoiler, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Safety features include seat-mounted side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags and front seat belt pretensioners.The Kia Rio5 is a carryover from 2008 with little to no change.
