Rio buyers may want to opt for the optional antilock brake package, that adds not only ABS but also 262-mm solid rear disc brakes and electronic brake force distribution. Unlike the previous four-door Rio and Cinco wagon, the redesigned sedan and five-door Rio5 add a bit of styling flair to the compact car segment. The front end features a black mesh grille, black air dam insert, and more pronounced hood lines. The side flanks add sporty wheel flares, and the rear end has been reshaped for a cleaner appearance.

Based off the Rio Sedan, the Rio5 is a small hatchback. This intrinsic design makes it very capable for its size. Also, the Rio5 features lively performance, great fuel economy and attractive styling. The Rio5 is powered by a 110-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that is attached to either the standard five-speed manual transmission, or a four-speed automatic. Standard features include independent front suspension, semi-independent rear suspension, air conditioning, power steering, satellite radio, USB and auxiliary input jack. Safety features include seat-mounted side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags and front seat belt pretensioners, a tire pressure monitoring system, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, and active front headrests.The Rio5 has a substantially revised appearance for 2010. Full body-color bumpers, a new grille, and headlamps, are the most notable changes.
